Five days, roughly 3,000 open-minded adults and entire hotels at the edge of the French Quarter. Naughty N'awlins is the biggest lifestyle convention in the world: nightly theme balls, private Bourbon Street bar parties, more than 100 classes, 25,000 sq ft of play space and a Sexual Freedom Parade down Bourbon Street. Here is how booking really works, which hotel to pick, what it costs all in and the tips couples wish they had heard before their first year.

Who it's for
Open-minded couples and poly triads, from the curious to veterans, who want a full week of parties with real structure around them: classes, consent rules and staff on every floor. The typical couple is 35 to 60, has been together around ten years and travels often. It gets called a swingers convention, and swingers are the biggest group, but polyamorous couples, kink and BDSM players, voyeurs, exhibitionists and nudists all come. About half of regulars never play outside their relationship, according to co-founder Bob Hannaford's own survey. Plenty come for the balls, the parade and friends they pick back up every July.
Highlights
Nightly erotic theme balls
Four themed nights with DJs, bands, aerialists, cirque acts, pole and go-go dancers, burlesque and boylesque. The last night is always the Mardi Gras ball; the 2027 themes are announced before the end of 2026.
The Sexual Freedom Parade

Arrive and get your bearings
Check in and pick up your badges; the event opens at 10 AM. Walk every host hotel once in daylight, hit the welcome reception, then the first theme ball and the Bourbon Street balcony. Night one is for scouting, not sprinting.

Classes, the pool and the bar crawl
One or two morning classes, the NOPSI rooftop pool party, then the private Bourbon Street bar takeovers. Nap from about 5 to 7 PM, then theme ball number two.

Parade day
Easy morning and a long lunch in the Quarter. Make your sign, march in the Sexual Freedom Parade on Friday evening, then the theme ball.

Your night
Sleep in and brunch off Bourbon. Try something new, a Dungeon demonstration, a rope class or a couples meet and greet, then dress up for the Mardi Gras ball, the finale of the week.

Goodbyes
Beignets, a slow walk to the river and a last brunch with the couples you met. Swap contacts before everyone scatters.
How booking works
- Choose your hotel before you pay. The 72-hour clock starts the moment you buy.
- Register with your legal names. Badge names and city must reasonably match your ID, and you pick the nicknames printed on your badges.
- Pay in full or put 50% down; the balance is due May 7, 2027.
- Pass the consent quiz. Your hotel booking links arrive in the quiz pass email.
- Book your room within 72 hours through the event link, or your tickets are cancelled. Call the hotel directly and it will look sold out.
- Download the Naughty app in late May 2027 for the full schedule.

Paying for it: Pay in full or put 50% down; the balance is due May 7, 2027, with a $25 late fee after that. The NOPSI takes one night when you book and every host hotel charges the full stay from June 7, 2027. There are no refunds: you can move your money to another Naughty event within a calendar year if you ask in writing by July 6, 2027, and a named Gulf storm or an outbreak cancellation earns a full credit for 2028.

Every host hotel is a full takeover, so everyone in the halls is an attendee. Your badge gets you into events at all of them, and shuttles run between them all night. Our pick for most couples is the NOPSI.
The main hub
Astor Crowne Plaza

Canal and Bourbon, right where Bourbon Street begins. Main play floors, both ballrooms with dance floors, vendors, the clothing-optional pool and the famous balcony over Bourbon. The most requested hotel and the first to sell out.
Pick it if you plan to be at the balls every night and want your bed an elevator ride from the dance floor.

The upscale event within the event, a few blocks away. The best-reviewed rooms and suites, a strong restaurant, the rooftop topless pool parties and the 8,000 sq ft Dungeon with kink vendors.
Pick it if you value sleep and space, want a pool scene that feels like a private club, or are into BDSM and fetish.

The venue: Astor Crowne Plaza and host hotels
Naughty N'awlins takes over every room at the Astor Crowne Plaza at Canal and Bourbon and the NOPSI Hotel from Wednesday to Sunday, plus a third hotel for 3-night guests, more than 1,100 rooms a night in all. The Astor holds the main ballrooms and play floors; the NOPSI has the rooftop pool and the Dungeon.

Sexy and creative for the theme balls; casual by day. A robe or lingerie is fine in the halls, but no nudity in hallways, elevators or on balconies.
Photos
Phones away on the play floors, and never post a face without permission. Badges carry nicknames.
Consent
Everyone passes a consent quiz before booking a room. Ask out loud before touching anyone, both partners in a couple must agree, anyone can stop with the safeword Red, and staff in yellow shirts handle any problem. No sex in public areas or at the Bourbon Street parties.
Insider tips
- Do not try to do everything. Pick two or three must-dos a day and let the rest be a bonus; first-timers on the Unplugged and Turned On podcast called FOMO versus sleep the real tension of the week.
- Dance early. The first hours on the floor are the best, before it turns into a packed crush.
- Watch the day drinking. Afternoon bar takeovers are where nights get lost, so alternate every drink with water and eat a real meal before the ball.
- Nap every afternoon. Five days of parties in July heat is a marathon, and a two-hour nap buys you the whole night.
- Have the talk before you fly. Sex therapist Dr. Stephanie Sigler notes that lifestyle events amplify whatever dynamic a couple already has: agree on boundaries, a check-in signal and a no-questions way to leave any room.
- Plan a debrief date night the week after. Big events often leave an emotional aftermath worth talking through.
- Make your matches before you land. A free Naughty members profile shows who is going, and paid members can message other attendees and set up meet-ups.
- Time your GOLD month. The free month in your package starts the day you book, so plan to renew in late spring when everyone is making plans.
- Stay on the inside. Couples who skip the package end up outside the private bar parties, looking up at the balcony from the street.
- Visit the Dungeon even if kink is not your thing. What struck first-timers was intention, consent, check-ins and care, not shock value.
- Expect friends, not just play. Many regulars come back every July for the people.
- Ask for late checkout when you check in, not on Sunday morning.

Getting there
The host hotels sit where Canal Street meets the French Quarter, so you will walk almost everywhere. Skip the rental car; downtown parking is expensive and you will not need it.
MSY, Louis Armstrong New Orleans International, about 15 miles away. A taxi runs about $36 per couple and goes straight to your hotel; the shared shuttle is $44 per couple and stops at other hotels.
- Spot another couple heading to the convention at baggage claim and split a taxi van.
- July highs run around 90°F with heavy humidity and quick afternoon storms.
- Add a night before or after at another hotel if you want a day to see the city on its own.

Attendees are 21 and over. Most are between 35 and 60.

Can we stay at another hotel and just go to the parties?
No. A host hotel room is required, booked through the event link within 72 hours of buying your package.
Which hotel should we book?
The NOPSI for nicer rooms, the rooftop pool and the Dungeon; the Astor Crowne Plaza to be in the middle of the biggest parties on Bourbon Street. Thursday arrivals stay at the Courtyard French Quarter.
What if we have to cancel?
There are no refunds, but you can transfer your payment to another Naughty event within a calendar year by emailing a request by July 6, 2027. If a named storm or an outbreak cancels the event, you get a full credit for 2028.
When does the 2027 schedule come out?
Late May 2027, in the Naughty app. The theme nights are announced before the end of 2026.
