Uhomo review: what to expect

Uhomo sits on Carrer de Puig i Xoriguer, a quiet side street a few minutes' walk from Drassanes metro and the port end of La Rambla, which makes it the easiest lifestyle club to reach from a hotel in the old town. It leans hard into nightlife. Think resident and guest DJs, a stage and podiums, four pole dance bars and cages, with premium drinks and cocktails at the bar. The look is sleek and a little theatrical, and the club pitches itself at seasoned swingers and curious newcomers alike.

It opens every night of the week, which is rare in Barcelona. Monday to Thursday runs from 11 PM to 4 AM, Friday and Saturday until 6 AM and Sunday from 10 PM to 4 AM. Saturday is the headline night and is reserved for couples, and themed parties pop up through the season, such as a speed-dating night for couples in October.

House rules are tight and clearly enforced. Single men are capped at five a night, at the door's discretion, and stay in the common areas. Men are turned away in shorts, bermudas or sneakers, and the door can refuse anyone who turns up looking scruffy. Respect and swinger etiquette are non-negotiable, and breaking a rule means you are asked to leave.

Our tip: if you are a couple trying Barcelona's scene for the first time, go on a Saturday, when the room is couples only and the DJ is in full swing. Couples pay the same €30 every night, so a weeknight visit is the cheaper bet for single women, who pay €10 Monday to Thursday instead of €15.
