Open Swinger Club review: what to expect

Open has been part of Barcelona's lifestyle scene since 2004, which makes it one of the longest-running clubs in the city. It sits on Carrer de València in the Eixample, a few minutes from Hospital Clínic, and fills roughly 300 square meters over two floors. It does not try to be a mansion party. It is a well-equipped city club where you can drop in for a few hours, and its schedule reflects that: daytime sessions, weeknight parties and late weekends.

The layout splits neatly by mood. Upstairs is the social floor, with the bar, lockers, a French corridor, a dark room and a main lounge kept for couples, with sofas and an extra-large bed. Downstairs was recently renovated and is where things get more adventurous: a mixed room for couples, men and women, beds, a gloryhole, a cage and a dedicated BDSM room. Showers are on both levels, and towels, reusable slippers, condoms and lube are provided, so you can arrive with nothing but a change of clothes.

The crowd is mostly couples, with single women welcome and single men admitted in very limited numbers. Wednesday and Thursday OpenMind nights run from 11 PM to 4 AM and are pitched at couples and singles alike, while daytime Matinales sessions from 11 AM to 8 PM suit travelers who would rather not start their evening at midnight.

Our tip: on Friday and Saturday, couples and single women get in free between 10 and 11 PM, so arrive early, claim a spot upstairs and watch the room fill. If discretion matters, use the second entrance on level -1 of the car park at Carrer del Comte d'Urgell 154, which takes you in away from the street and solves parking at the same time.
