Thad's review: what to expect
Thad's has been running since the 1970s and still works the old way. It's a private social club in an unmarked house on E Street in Mount Hope, about ten minutes from downtown San Diego. You call the hostess for an invitation, you pick an alias, and you leave your phone number out of it.
Inside it's relaxed and unpolished, and that's part of the draw. Lockers are by the entrance, and beyond them street clothes come off. Men are fully nude, women wear lingerie or something revealing, and much of the action happens out back around the fire pits, hot tub and pool. Upstairs is reserved for couples, and that rule is strictly enforced.
Expect plenty of single men. The crowd runs mostly single guys, so couples and single women get the most out of it by arriving early, setting expectations with a partner beforehand and using the couples-only upstairs when they want a quieter space.
